Job summary

Montana Department of Labor & Industry is seeking a Paralegal 1 to support the Office of Legal Services. You will open licensing matters, prepare notices, maintain complete case records, and assist with cause findings and prosecutions under attorney supervision.

You will work with licensing staff, attorneys and investigators to move cases forward, while protecting confidential information and meeting deadlines in a collaborative, team‑oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in document-heavy legal or case support work.
• Ability to perform paralegal work under attorney supervision.
• Experience tracking multiple cases with deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience handling confidential records and sensitive information.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and case management or electronic records systems.

Responsibilities

• Open licensing matters, organize materials, and maintain files.
• Prepare and coordinate initial notices and responses; track delivery and deadlines.
• Keep case records current and provide status updates.
• Assist attorneys with notices after cause findings and review.
• Organize materials to support prosecutions; track deadlines for filings.
• Coordinate with licensing staff, attorneys, investigators and others to move matters forward while protecting confidentiality.
