Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Justice (Attorney General’s Office) seeks a Paralegal I to support condemnation actions across NC. The role involves coordinating filings, researching legal details, and communicating with DOT personnel and agencies to gather necessary information for court actions.

Under supervision of an Attorney III, you will use the Odyssey system to manage electronic filings and assist in preparing cases for litigation.

Qualifications

• Paralegal training or Bachelor’s degree with one year of paralegal experience.
• High school diploma or GED with five years of paralegal experience performing delegated, substantive legal work.
• Equivalent education and experience may qualify under the agency guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and prepare highway condemnation actions in NC Superior Courts.
• Assist attorneys in filing and research necessary for condemnation suits.
• Gather information from DOT Right of Way and other agencies.
• Work with court officials statewide to ensure proper filing of actions.
