Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Justice, Transportation Division, seeks a Paralegal I to support condemnation filings across the state. You will gather information with DOT Right of Way personnel and other agencies, preparing and filing condemnation actions to advance transportation projects.

Under supervision of an Attorney III in the Condemnation Section, you’ll manage Odyssey electronic filing and coordinate with courts statewide to ensure accurate, timely actions.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a paralegal program or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Bachelor’s degree with one year of paralegal experience qualifies.
• GED with five years of paralegal experience qualifies.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and prepare highway condemnation actions statewide.
• File lawsuits timely in superior courts across NC.
• Confer with DOT Right of Way Unit and other agencies to gather information.
• Ensure proper filing with the court and coordinate with officials statewide.
• Assist attorneys under supervision and perform related duties.
