Qualifications

  • High School Diploma with 8 years of experience in corporate legal settings or law firms.
  • Associate's Degree with 4 years of experience in corporate legal settings or law firms.
  • Bachelor's Degree with experience in corporate legal department or law firm.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial case assessments and gather relevant documents.
  • Coordinate custodians and witnesses for fact verification.
  • Draft chronologies of facts, documents, witnesses, and events.
  • Support discovery and early case assessment under attorney supervision.
  • Prepare responses to administrative requests and subpoenas.
  • Identify, gather, and prepare documents for agencies or parties.
  • Serve as liaison between outside counsel, in-house counsel, and internal clients.
  • Coordinate delivery of documents to outside counsel or government agencies.
  • Maintain electronic matter-management records and ensure confidentiality.

Job description

We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented Paralegal to support an Employment Litigation practice group within a corporate legal department. This role will provide paralegal support for employment litigation, administrative agency charges, subpoenas, compliance projects, internal and external reporting, and electronic matter-management systems.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in a corporate legal department or law firm, strong organizational skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage a high-volume workload while handling confidential information.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial case assessments and identify and obtain relevant documents to support counsel in employment litigation and administrative charges.
  • Coordinate, schedule, and, when directed, interview custodians and witnesses to verify facts and identify relevant documents.
  • Draft chronologies of relevant facts, documents, witnesses, and events to support assigned counsel.
  • Under attorney supervision, gather, review, and organize information for discovery and early case assessment.
  • Prepare initial draft responses to administrative agency requests for information and subpoenas.
  • Identify, gather, organize, and prepare documents and information for submission to agencies or other parties.
  • Serve as a liaison between outside counsel, in-house counsel, and internal business clients.
  • Coordinate collection and delivery of documents and data to outside counsel or government agencies.
  • Conduct follow-up activities to ensure timely completion of legal requests.
  • Assist with presentations and briefings for internal business stakeholders.
  • Support attorneys with research, document gathering, file organization, and other legal projects.
  • Compile information and prepare internal reports, including forecasts, project updates, legal invoices, accounting information, and data from various databases.
  • Maintain accurate electronic matter-management records and files.
  • Handle confidential and sensitive legal information appropriately.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple assignments in a high-volume environment.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma + 8 years of experience working in a corporate legal department or law firm; OR
  • Associate's Degree + 4 years of experience working in a corporate legal department or law firm; OR
  • Bachelor's Degree with experience working in a corporate legal department or law firm.
  • Additional relevant work experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with attorneys, business stakeholders, and outside counsel.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
Top 3 Non-Negotiable Skills
  • Paralegal/Legal Department Experience – Corporate legal department or law firm experience.
  • Legal Documentation & Case Support – Experience with legal documents, litigation support, document review/organization, subpoenas, discovery, or administrative agency matters.
  • Microsoft Office – Strong proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience drafting legal documents.
  • Paralegal certificate or state-designated paralegal certification.
  • Experience working within a corporate legal department.
  • Retail industry experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise creating professional presentations using PowerPoint.
  • Experience supporting employment litigation or administrative agency matters.
  • Experience working with outside counsel and internal business clients.
  • Experience with electronic legal matter-management systems.
Preferred Skills
  • Employment litigation, administrative charges, subpoenas, and discovery support.
  • Paralegal certification.
  • Retail industry experience.
