Job summary

Leidos is seeking Paralegals in the Washington DC area to support the program and management team with electronic case filing workflows (ECF). You will gain skills in time management, critical thinking and concise problem communication while assisting DOJ attorneys.

This position offers exposure to a dynamic federal environment, with responsibilities ranging from PACER data handling to discovery support and courtroom assistance. Candidates must be U.S.

Qualifications

  • Requires paralegal certificate, JD, or currently attending an ABA‑accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study.
  • One year of litigation paralegal experience or related project experience in electronic case filing workflows.
  • Basic legal knowledge including standard legal citation checks.
  • Experience with legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Download electronic case filings (ECFs) from PACER.
  • Upload electronic case filings to automated matters systems.
  • Enter filing information into a case tracking system.
  • Create and provide links to electronic filings to DOJ Attorneys.
  • Respond to DOJ attorney requests for filing information and retrieval.
  • Prepare and summarize materials for attorneys in discovery and motions.
  • Conduct basic to moderately complex database searches.
  • Perform simple legal research.
  • Index and track document discovery, depositions and trial.
  • Prepare exhibit cross-references.
  • Assist attorneys in the courtroom.

Job description

Leidos is seeking Paralegals located in the Washington DC area. You will work in a fast-paced and diverse environment assisting the program and management team with workflows for electronic case filings (ECF).

Be part of a dynamic team in providing legal and technical services to support the Division of Offices, Boards and Divisions at the Department of Justice. In this role, you will gain skills such as time and task management, critical thinking and problem solving, and the ability to communicate complicated problems in a concise manner.

Responsibilities
  • Downloads electronic case filings (ECFs) from PACER
  • Uploads the electronic case filings to the automated matters systems
  • Enters filing information into a case tracking system
  • Creates and provides links to the electronic case filings to the DOJ Attorneys
  • Responds to DOJ attorney requests for filing information and retrieval
  • Compiles, prepares, and summarizes relevant materials for use by attorneys in discovery and in preparation of motions, briefs and other legal documents
  • Conducts simple to moderately complex database searches
  • Performs simple legal research
  • Indexes, tracks and controls document discovery, depositions, and trial
  • Prepares exhibit cross-references
  • Assists attorneys in courtroom
Basic Qualifications
  • Requires paralegal certificate, JD, or currently attending an ABA‑accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study. One (1) year of legal training or legal experience or at least two (2) years of college education may be substituted for the paralegal certificate.
  • At least one (1) year of litigation paralegal experience or project experience related to electronic case filing workflows.
  • Basic legal knowledge, including knowledge of standard legal citation to cite and check legal motions and memorandum.
  • Experience with legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Trial experience
  • Automated litigation support experience valued
  • Prior experience working in a Federal Government environment

This position is covered under the Service Contract Act and is subject to minimum requirements. Leidos ensures that all provisions are satisfied. The pay for this position will be $25.58/hr.
