Job description

Paralegal – Litigation Support Team, Leidos – Los Angeles, CA DOJ office.

Location: Los Angeles, CA – U.S. Department of Justice office.

Responsibilities
  • Work under the direction of Supervisory Paralegal, Project Supervisor or Direct Report.
  • Perform tasks while complying with established procedures.
  • Compile, prepare, and summarize relevant materials for attorneys in discovery and preparation of motions, briefs and other legal documents.
  • Summarize depositions and other transcripts; maintain case files; perform simple legal research; index, track and control document discovery (including documents produced and received in discovery).
  • Index, track and exhibit materials at depositions and at trial; prepare exhibit cross-references.
  • Assist attorneys in courtroom and review documents for relevance and privilege according to established guidelines and criteria.
  • Perform compilation of documents for FOIA, production requests, Congressional inquiries, and other related tasks.
Basic Qualifications
  • Paralegal certificate required, or currently attending an ABA‑accredited law school with at least one year of study completed.
  • At least one year of litigation paralegal experience or project experience required.
  • Basic legal knowledge, including standard legal citation and ability to cite legal motions and memorandum.
  • Proficiency with legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw for basic research.
  • Familiarity with computer applications including word processing, databases (document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems.
  • Knowledge of ESI tools and eDiscovery procedures and resources.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a Government and/or Litigation Support environment.
  • Trial experience.
  • Experience with Relativity or similar applications.
  • Automated litigation support experience.
  • Current or active clearance.

Pay: $24.49 per hour.

This position is covered under the Service Contract Act and is subject to minimum requirements.
