Job summary

Leidos in Washington, DC is seeking a Supervisory Paralegal to support a Government project on-site. You will direct and supervise paralegals on major litigation support tasks and coordinate with trial attorneys and staff.

The role requires a paralegal certificate or JD with 4+ years of litigation experience, supervisory experience, and proficiency with legal research tools (Lexis, Westlaw) and eDiscovery software. Travel up to 50% may be required.

Qualifications

Job description

We are seeking a Supervisory Paralegal to work on-site in support a Government project in Washington, DC. Be one of the first to dedicate your skills and talent to a newly formed division of the Department of Justice, National Fraud Enforcement Division.

Primary Responsibilities
  • :Directs and supervises the work of paralegals and other support staff, particularly on major paralegal support efforts, such as large legal research projects or major in-courtroom support
  • .Monitors work and reports on progress
  • .Responsible for ensuring that paralegal and support staff work meets contract and attorney requirements and is delivered on time
  • .Potential travel up to 50% of the time to aid with trial preparatio
  • nPerforms detailed reviews and analysis of case materials, which includes financial records, health care materials, and other litigation file
  • sPerforms detailed indexing of case files; drafting procedures for accomplishing litigation support assignments; document acquisition related tasks; screening for privilege documents; and conducting database searche
  • sAs required, serves as "team leader" for a group of legal professional
  • sReviews audio files for relevance and update databases with finding
  • sCommunicates with other DOJ components, Federal agencies and others as required during investigations and litigatio
  • nUtilizes Excel spreadsheets to track information and analyze case statistic
  • sPerform trial preparation tasks to include copying, document review, document organization, bates stamping, legal research and searching documents in Concordance/Summatio
  • nUtilize electronic and evidence management and discovery production processes and tools, such as Relativity, Casemap and Oncue, to support investigation
  • sSearches the Relativity database per criteria developed by case team managemen
  • tReviews search result sets for relevance based on written criteri
  • lTroubleshoots and performs quality control spot-checks
  • .Must be able to formulate administrative and technical procedures for getting the work done
  • .Reports to Project Supervisor or Project Manager; may also have significant contact with COR, Government Case Manager, trial attorneys and staff, client agency staff, and opposing counsel
  • .Performs complex legal and factual research
  • .Designs and develops systems and procedures for tracking, controlling, and managing case files, exhibits, and other case-specific materials
  • .Assists trial staff in coordination with expert witnesses and litigation consultants
  • .Arranges for access to appropriate DOJ libraries and other legal research facilities
  • .Coordinates with other Contractor support components, including data processing support staff, in order to accomplish work
Basic Qualification
  • s:Requires paralegal certificate or J
  • D.Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and 4+ years of litigation paralegal experience, including trial experienc
  • e.At least one year of experience in automated litigation suppor
  • t.Must have supervisory experience, including proven capabilities and communication skills to successfully interact with clients and attorney
  • s.Requires sound working knowledge of federal and state court system, legal research procedures, and legal research resource
  • s.Requires excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westla
  • w.Must have hands‑on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, and imagin
  • g.Ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under extreme pressure will be very importan
  • t.Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain a Public Trust clearanc
