Sylvania is hiring Paraeducator Special Education staff for the 2026-27 school year in Minnesota. The roles are full-time, 184 days at 6.5 hours per day, with three positions available across centers.
Start date is 8/31/26, with insurance benefits for positions 6+ hours/day. Responsibilities include supporting instruction for students with disabilities, behavior management, progress monitoring, and assisting with physical needs.
Paraeducator Special Education – 2026-27
Full-Time 184 days/6.5 hrs/day

High School Diploma or equivalent. Personal Care Assistant certification required to be completed within 30 days of start date.
Candidates must have completed 60 semester or 90 quarter credits, obtained an associate degree (or higher) from a regionally accredited institution, or have passed the ParaEducator exam or ParaPro exam. Documentation will be required.
Good communications, interpersonal and record‑keeping skills. Ability/desire to work with technology and computers. Ability to work cooperatively with students and staff. Ability to supervise students. Ability to take direction. Ability to maintain regular attendance, which includes completing an assigned day.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds. Ability to perform position responsibilities, including physical factors, work devices, materials handling, data functions and people functions, but not limited to toileting, feeding and self‑care procedures, implementing behavioral management program; maintaining student data; working with students who may display aggressive, abusive, or inappropriate verbal and/or physical behavior. Must be physically working in the building.
$20.85/hour to $25.50/hour DOQ with K-12 experience
$22.00/hour to $26.65/hour with AA/AAS degree or 60 semester/90 quarter credits from a regionally accredited institution, DOQ with K-12 experience
$22.85/hour to $27.50/hour with BA degree from a regionally accredited institution, DOQ with K-12 experience
Special Ed Paras serving Center based students and classrooms 50 percent or more of their time shall receive an additional $0.50 per hour.
Special Ed Paras at Two Rivers Transition Program shall receive an additional $1.00 per hour. Special Ed Paras at River Trail Learning Center shall receive an additional $1.50/hour.
