Paraeducator Special Education

Position Type: Full Time, 184 days/6.5 hrs/day

Duties

Assists in the instruction of students with disabilities in mainstream, resource room, or center-based settings. Responsibilities may include:

• Managing behavior (redirecting, calming, or removing disruptive students)
• Monitoring and recording student progress in areas such as academics, daily living skills, dressing, grooming, and social skills
• Managing physical needs (toileting, feeding, dressing, lifting, positioning, transporting students in wheelchairs)

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Personal Care Assistant certification required within 30 days of start date
• 60 semester/90 quarter credits or an associate degree (or higher) from a regionally accredited institution, or passing the ParaEducator or ParaPro exam (documentation required)
• Good communication, interpersonal, and recordkeeping skills
• Ability to work with technology and computers
• Ability to supervise students and take direction
• Ability to maintain regular attendance
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds

Rate of Pay

• $19.60/hour to $24.75/hour DOQ with K-12 experience
• $20.70/hour to $25.85/hour with AA/AAS degree or 60 semester/90 quarter credits, DOQ with K-12 experience
• $21.50/hour to $26.65/hour with BA degree, DOQ with K-12 experience

Additional pay for serving center-based students or at specific programs as detailed in the original posting.

Start Date

ASAP. Note: Employees hired on or after March 17, 2025, for positions of six or more hours per day will be eligible for insurance benefits starting the 2025-26 school year.
