Position Title: Program Paraprofessional

Assignment Location: Cornerstones, Buffalo

Hours per Day: 7

Schedule: 179 day contract per school calendar

Anticipated Start Date: Immediately

Salary: Placement per the MSEA contract for Paras ($20.91 - $27.16/hour), based on applicable experience

Position Overview

The Special Education Paraprofessional works with students assigned to the special education program or service, under the direction of the licensed staff, and performs duties to support the program in general.

This includes, but is not limited to, providing data-driven instructional support, personal care, and behavioral assistance to students with special needs. Responsibilities may involve assisting students with daily living skills, implementing behavior plans, and monitoring/enforcing skills in accordance with lesson plans and IEPs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent; and
  • Holds or will obtain within the probationary period one of the following to meet the Highly Qualified Paraprofessional requirement:
    • At least two years of college credits (usually 60 credits in Minnesota)
    • An AA, AS, AAS degree or higher
    • Obtain the PELSB Paraprofessional Credential
    • Passing score of 460+ on the ParaPro Assessment
    • Passing scores of 65%+ on the Instructional Support test and 70%+ on the Knowledge and Application test on the Minnesota Service Cooperatives ParaEducator Proctored Test

MAWSECO offers access to online training materials and proctors the test.

About Cornerstones

Cornerstones is a therapeutic setting IV, multi-school district program located at the Wright Technical Center in Buffalo, MN, managed by MAWSECO. It serves adolescents in grades 9-12 with emotional and behavioral needs, aiming to provide educational support and social skills training to facilitate their return to their home districts.

MAWSECO is a cooperative of seven school districts providing special education services, dedicated to delivering quality leadership, services, and support to its member districts and other clients. Its central office is located in Howard Lake, MN.
