Job summary

The Walt Disney Company in Florida is hiring Construction Sewing Specialists to manufacture and alter costumes for parades, meet-and-greets, and shows, using industrial sewing machines and fabric presses.

You will follow specifications, read patterns, and collaborate with patternmakers to ensure quality and efficiency. An 8-hour in-person assessment is required as part of the hiring process, and full availability may be needed for some shifts.

Qualifications

• Three years of garment construction or repair experience.
• Experience with industrial sewing machines in a professional setting.
• Willing to work with costumes made of synthetic and natural fibers such as fur, foam, vinyl, latex, and leather.

Responsibilities

• Construct detailed garments from start to finish.
• Sophisticated sewing on a variety of fabrics.
• Apply size chart to alter garments.
• Collaborate with Patternmaker on replenishment orders.
• Construct garments and perform repairs/alterations to all types of garments.
• Share sewing techniques and standard processes.
• Read and interpret patterns and specifications sheets with little to no direction.
