Job summary

Hands of Heartland is seeking a compassionate Para-Educator in Omaha, NE to support students with IEPs under a certified teacher’s guidance. You’ll help with academic, daily living, and social-emotional goals, recording progress and promoting independence.

Starting pay ranges from $19.00 to $21.00 per hour with full-time hours Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm. No prior experience required—we provide training, and Spanish/English bilingual applicants are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be able to pass all background checks.

Hands of Heartland is looking for a compassionate and caring individual to work with the people we support as a Para-Educator in Omaha, NE.

What You’ll Do: Under the guidance of a certified Special Education teacher, you will work with one or more school-age students with an IEP to provide targeted academic skills, daily living skills and social/emotional support to reduce or eliminate barriers to independent adult living. Students may need assistance with self-care and/or mobility. Coaches will work with students on their IEP goals and do daily data recording on these goals. Coaches will also work with students on daily living skills in the classroom and out in the community. You will assist students in transitioning from school to adult living by providing real life experiences and helping them to be as independent as possible.

Hours: Full-time hours. Monday through Friday from 8a-4p.

Skill Set Needed for the Job: Ability to work independently in a fast paced, team-oriented environment. Flexible and willing to adapt to change. Know the value of communication. Desire to support people and encourage them to reach goals. Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
