Job summary

Hands of Heartland, Inc. in Lincoln, NE is seeking a compassionate Para-Educator to support school-age students with IEPs under a certified teacher. You will help develop academic, daily living, and social-emotional skills, with data recording and real-life experiences to foster independence.

Hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with potential additional hours in other departments. Starting pay is $19.00 per hour, with higher pay for experience and additional incentives.

Hands of Heartland is looking for a compassionate and caring individual to work with the people we support as a Para-Educator.

What You’ll Do: Under the guidance of a certified Special Education teacher, you will work with one or more school-age students with an IEP to provide targeted academic skills, daily living skills and social/emotional support to reduce or eliminate barriers to independent adult living. Students may need assistance with self-care and/or mobility. Coaches will work with students on their IEP goals and do daily data recording on these goals. Coaches will also work with students on daily living skills in the classroom and out in the community. You will assist students in transitioning from school to adult living by providing real life experiences and helping them to be as independent as possible.

Hours: We are looking for full-time or part-time hours Monday through Friday from 9a-4p. There is the possibility of getting additional hours in other departments, if needing to work some flexed hours.

Requirements: Must be 18 years old. Must have a valid driver’s license and auto insurance. Dependable transportation. Must be able to pass all background checks. Experience not required - we will train you!

Pay: Starting pay is $19.00 per hour. We pay more for experience. Incentives also available.
