Job summary

Lake Washington School District is seeking a paraprofessional assistant to support teachers and students with physical, behavioral, or medically fragile needs. You will assist with instruction, help develop daily living and behavioral skills, and support staff with classroom preparation and storage of materials.

The role may involve supervising students in library, classrooms, resource rooms, playgrounds, or assisting during bus routines. Union eligibility may apply under Teamsters Local 763.

Qualifications

• Must be at least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent.
• Hold an Associate degree (AA) or higher OR completed two years of study equivalent to 72 college quarter credit hours, OR passed an Educational Testing Service ParaPro Assessment documenting a score of 455 or higher OR have passed the Pearson Paraprofessional Assessment with a score of 220 or higher.
• Official documentation will be required upon hire.
• Must pass criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Assists teachers with individualized and small group instruction for students of all educational levels who have physical or behavioral needs or are medically fragile.
• Supports students' special health care needs and develops daily living and behavioral skills.
• Assists staff with classroom preparation and retrieval, use and storage of equipment and supplies.
• May supervise and assist students in library, classrooms, resource rooms, self-contained classroom, playgrounds, or getting on and off a bus.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent
