Job summary

First Quality Tissue SE, LLC in Anderson, SC seeks a Continuous Improvement Engineer-Paper to lead new product development, process improvements and cost reductions across the paper operation. You will collaborate with Quality and engineering to ensure product quality and regulatory compliance while driving efficiency gains.

The ideal candidate has a mechanical/chemical/electrical engineering background, 5 years in high-speed manufacturing, and strong cost-analysis skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
• 5 years’ experience in a high-speed, high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Previous paper industry experience STRONGLY preferred.
• Experience providing technical analysis, feasibility studies and recommendations for controls systems requirements preferred.
• Microsoft Office applications
• Experience in a lean manufacturing environment preferred.
• Knowledge of engineering science and technology as applied to design and production.
• Knowledge of machines and tools and their maintenance.
• Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control and cost optimization.
• Fundamental knowledge of cost accounting principles.
• SAP knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Promote safety culture and ensure incident-free workplace.
• Provide technical support for converting machines to improve efficiencies.
• Organize and maintain production process flow and develop best practices.
• Evaluate trends and identify root causes to reduce downtime and waste.
• Lead design and development projects and train manufacturing personnel.
• Prepare documentation for new processes and review drawings and specs.
• Plan, coordinate and manage projects across disciplines to meet schedules.
• Propose, install and validate new equipment.
• Lead process trials and communicate results.
