Responsibilities

  • Maintain pantry cleanliness and proper food storage.
  • Coordinate with donors and stores for donations and food orders.
  • Track client services and maintain records for reports.
  • Ensure compliance with health dept. rules and TSA standards.
  • Assist volunteers and prepare for group activities.
  • Support regulatory inspections and implement corrective actions.

SCOPE AND PURPOSE OF POSITION:

To oversee the Corps' Pantry program offering fresh and canned food to create balanced meals for individuals and families in need of food on an emergency basis, interviewing the individual, identifying their needs, suggesting referrals where necessary, inquiring about spiritual needs, and inviting the individual or family to worship and any applicable corps-based meetings. Throughout any interaction, the employee is to be respectful and compassionate toward the well-being of all individuals.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Arrive promptly at 9:00 AM Wednesday to Friday.
  • Plan Pantry intake and ministry from 9:30 am-11:30 am and 11.30 three days a week.
  • Follow all rules of the Health Dept. pertaining to safe handling and preparation of daily
  • meals; be conscious on food expiration dates.
  • Ensure the Pantry is properly stocked and that there is a sufficient amount of
  • regular staple food items to meet the needs and demands of the program.
  • Responsible for storing and rotating food properly and safely.
  • Maintain pantry cleanliness- floors, freezers, refrigerators, and all equipment. Check that all
  • food storage spaces are organized.
  • Prepare order to be done via Food Bank based on budget availability.
  • Connect with donors and stores to solicit donations in cash, grants, and GIK.
  • Cooperate and collaborate with the Soup Kitchen staff person on food orders to the
  • Regional Food Bank for the Food Bank. Assist in maintaining statistics and track client services
  • for distribution to; Salvation Army, HPNAP, OSP, UW/EF&SP, Food Pantries, etc. including
  • assisting in tracking in-kind donations.
  • Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly records and statistics for all reports.
  • Report equipment problems to immediate supervisor.
  • Facilitate what is needed in preparation for any volunteer groups.
  • Ensure that Pantry program is well maintained and in compliance with The Salvation Army
  • and regulatory agency standards to the maximum extent possible.
  • Assist in monitoring timely submission, accuracy, and appropriateness of responses for all
  • required reports for the Pantry program, regulatory agency inspections, and follow-up on
  • implementation of corrective actions.
  • Clean up any and all spills, wipe and sanitize all surfaces daily.
  • Monitor sidewalk conditions to ensure safe entry ways in inclement weather conditions.
  • Assist in other duties at the request of the Corps Office

Qualifications

SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS.

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One to three years previous kitchen or food preparation experience preferred
  • Safe Serv certification preferred.
