The Salvation Army in Glens Falls, NY seeks compassionate individuals for a Casual Kitchen Assistant & Food Service Helper on our Glens Falls Team. This part-time role supports meal service, kitchen cleanliness, and basic food preparation with opportunities for benefits and growth.

No formal experience is required, but previous work in food service or domestic settings is helpful. Flexible hours, paid holidays, and employer-sponsored plans are included.

Qualifications

• Prior experience is not required; some experience in a restaurant, hotel dining room, or domestic work is desirable.
• Working knowledge of proper methods of serving food.
• Knowledge of care of tableware, glassware, silver, and kitchen appliances.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions.
• Physically able to meet the position’s requirements.
• If driving is required, a valid license that meets Salvation Army requirements.

Responsibilities

• Sets tables and clears them after meals.
• Fills sugar bowls and salt/pepper shakers.
• Polishes silverware, tables and chairs.
• Prepares trays for and serves recipients.
• Cleans dining rooms and dish/linen closets.
• Cleans, washes and prepares vegetables and fruit for cooking.
• Assists in salad and dessert preparation.
• Helps cooks in various duties.
• Washes dishes, pots and pans manually or with machine.
• Sweeps, mops and cleans kitchen.
• May act as cashier.
• Other duties as assigned.

SCOPE AND PURPOSE OF POSITION: Assists in the preparation and service of food and in the cleaning of kitchen equipment; does related work as required.

Responsibilities
