Job summary

Shadow Hills Golf Club in Indio, CA is hiring a Pantry Cook to prepare pantry items for beverage cart, snack bar, restaurants and banquets. You will produce salads, appetizers and other cold dishes, wrap and rotate items, minimize waste, and maintain sanitation in assigned areas while coordinating with chefs and supervisors.

Experience is flexible; a high school diploma or GED with related experience or training is acceptable. Food safety training is preferred.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and speak English may be required to perform the duties of the job (e.g. communicate with English-speaking customers or co-workers).
• High school diploma or GED required; or 1–3 months related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Food Safety and Sanitation Training certification is preferred/required.

Responsibilities

• Requisitions inventory and receives supplies for daily production.
• Ensures proper storage of food items and rotation.

General Purpose:

Prepares various pantry products for various food outlets such as beverage cart and snack bar, restaurants and banquet operations.

• Prepares sufficient quantities of pantry products in accordance to production plan or forecast needs such as salads, appetizers, sandwich filling and other cold dishes.
• Wraps, dates, and rotates food items.
• Utilizes whole food products eliminating any waste.
• Maintains overall cleanliness and sanitation standards in assigned areas.
• Alerts chef or supervisor of any equipment breakdowns, food overages, or shortages in a timely manner
• Requisitions inventory and receive supplies as necessary for daily production.
• Ensures proper storage of food items , wraps, dates and rotates food items.
• Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
• Regular and reliable attendance.
• Performs other duties as required.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands:

Frequently stands, uses hands, talks, hears, tastes and smells. Regularly walks and reaches with hands and arms. Occasionally sits, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls. Regularly lifts up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 100 pounds.

Regularly works in extreme heat (non-weather) and near moving mechanical parts. Occasionally works in extreme cold (non-weather), wet or humid conditions (non-weather), near toxic or caustic chemicals, and in outdoor weather. Noise level is moderate.
