Job summary

The Reef in Long Beach, CA is seeking a Pantry Cook to prepare cold and pantry items, ensuring quality, consistency, and food safety during service. You will work closely with the kitchen team to ensure timely prep, proper portions, and accurate plating, while following all recipes and procedures in a fast-paced environment.

Minimum 2 years in a similar role or equivalent culinary experience is required; strong teamwork and ability to stand for long shifts are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar position or equivalent culinary experience.
• Previous restaurant or high-volume kitchen experience preferred.
• Knowledge of basic food preparation, cooking techniques, and sanitation standards.
• Ability to follow recipes and maintain consistency in food quality and presentation.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/move kitchen supplies as needed.
• Food Handler certification, or ability to obtain one, as required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare salads, appetizers, sandwiches, desserts, sauces, dressings, and other pantry items according to recipe and presentation standards.
• Maintain proper food preparation, portioning, and plating procedures.
• Set up and stock the pantry station before service and maintain proper product levels throughout the shift.
• Ensure all food is prepared and stored according to food safety and sanitation standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked workstation.
• Communicate effectively with cooks, chefs, servers, and management during service.
• Monitor food quality and freshness and notify management of any concerns.
• Assist with prep and other kitchen duties as needed.
• Follow all recipes, portion controls, and kitchen procedures.
• Work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment while maintaining attention to detail.
