A leading food production company seeks a dedicated production operator in Dubuque, Iowa. The role involves operating and troubleshooting palletizing machines, ensuring quality standards of finished goods, and collaborating with team members to optimize production efficiency. Candidates should have a high school diploma and experience in a similar manufacturing setting.
Purpose of the Position: Produce pallets of product that are properly stacked, stretch wrapped, and ready for storage in the warehouse.
Essential Responsibilities: Ensure palletizing machines are operational at all times. Troubleshoot malfunctions or abnormalities promptly, including issues with machines, shuttle cars, wrappers, and photo eyes. Notify maintenance of repairs needed. Select appropriate palletizing patterns and verify code dates during changeovers. Communicate with forklift drivers and Parsons/Thiele operators to coordinate changeovers and material handling. Ensure pallets meet quality standards, are correctly patterned, and use proper materials such as pallets, slip sheets, and film. Assist in LP process verification, ensuring accuracy of G-Code and quantities. Optimize stacking for quality and efficiency.
Team Participation: Engage actively in team meetings and initiatives, fostering cohesiveness and supporting organizational goals. Communicate effectively to resolve issues and improve processes.
System and Policy Awareness: Be familiar with Simmons' operating systems, quality, security, and LEAN principles. Maintain awareness of how individual actions impact these systems and communicate concerns or improvement ideas.
Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as needed to support business objectives, demonstrating flexibility and creativity beyond the core responsibilities.
Physical Requirements: Stand, walk, and lift up to 55 lbs regularly. Be prepared for hot and cold environments.
Personal Protective Equipment: Steel-toed shoes, ear plugs, hair net.
Travel: None.
Technical and Industry Experience: Experience operating large machines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, with knowledge of GMP.
Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
