Job summary

LECO in St. Joseph, Michigan is seeking a full-time painter to mask and paint parts to blueprint specifications. The role may include sanding and filling parts to meet quality standards and strict adherence to safety and process guidelines.

Qualifications

• Read Blueprints and interpret blueprint drawings.
• Experience with or willingness to train on shop tools (orbital sander, grinder, bead blast, dynafile, hand files).
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision and maintain good attendance.

Responsibilities

• Mask and paint parts to blueprint specifications.
• Sand and fill parts to meet quality standards.
• Move parts between work areas and ensure proper routing as per revisions.
• Check router and blueprint revision levels; report mismatches to supervisor.
• Self-inspect finished parts and document labor accurately.
• Operate a forklift to move parts as needed.
• Wear safety glasses and protective gloves during operations.

Schedule

Full Time: 6:00am - 2:30pm, Monday - Friday

Position Summary

As a painter, you are responsible for masking and painting parts to blueprint specifications. Sanding and filling parts as needed to meet quality specifications may also be required.

Position Responsibilities

• Pick up LECO parts from Raw Parts holding area and move to workstation
• Responsible for making sure the Router revision level matches the blueprint revision level accompanying the LECO manufactured parts
• Responsible for contacting the Operations Supervisor if the Router Sheet revision level does not match the revision level on the blueprint
• Responsible to NOT process parts if revision levels do not match on Router Sheet and blueprint
• Review router/process sheet instructions and recommend necessary changes to Supervisor or Department Manager
• Responsible to write the quantity, initials and date on the Router Sheet when parts are finished
• Move parts to next department when parts are finished
• Wear safety glasses always
• Required to mask, paint parts to Blueprint specifications
• Responsible for fill and sand of castings as needed
• Produce and maintain quality parts that are to blueprint specifications
• Maintain acceptable level of productivity
• Self-inspect finished parts
• Assure that labor is reported timely and correctly
• Implement corrective actions
• Material handling using a Forklift Truck
• Responsible to wear protective form fitting gloves while operating sanding equipment
• Responsible to position parts at a comfort level to prevent overreaching and bending

Position Requirements

• Previous experience or the ability to train on the use of miscellaneous tools such as: Orbital Sander, Grinder, Bead Blast, Dynafile and Hand files is a plus
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision
• Read Blueprints
• Operate Forklift Truck and obtain LECO Forklift License
• Must have a good attendance record

Education/Certifications
