Job description

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for ensuring adequate, high- quality completion of paint operation while manually applying special paint to products, along with inorganic zinc. This position is responsible for applying paint all by hand.

Principle Duties (includes, but is not limited to):

· Mask / Unmask parts as required for paint operations.

· Load / Unload parts from paint conveyor

· Manually apply standard primer.

· Use special paint, along with inorganic zinc on products.

· Brush paint / touch-up under flanges, masked areas, and other areas where spray painting is disallowed.

· Visually inspect painted parts to specifications.

· Clean parts as needed prior to painting.

· Perform material handling functions using hand trucks and forklifts.

· Report production and labor on VDT and work order traveller.

· Maintain a clean and orderly work area.

· Mix paint and solvents according to specifications and clean paint equipment routinely.

Essential Qualifications / Experience:

· High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.

· Must be able to lift parts weighing up to 50 lbs without assistance, any parts weighing over 50lbs requires a team lift.

· Must have basic blueprint reading skills to interpret engineering drawings and specifications necessary to perform job.

· Must have basic math skills including addition / subtraction of fractions and decimal values for determining material, manufacturing, and inspection requirements.

· Must have ability to read measuring instruments not limited to but including tape measure, mil. Thickness gage, and fluid measuring units

· Must have good hand-eye coordination, grip strength and dexterity to perform paint and paint preparation using hand and power equipment at established production standards.

· Must have basic reading / writing ability to read and interpret manufacturing orders and material requirements and to report production.

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

· Forklift experience.

· Paint experience within manufacturing environment.

Hazardous Waste Handler

- Awareness and satellite accumulation (including but not limited to) caps, labelling, dating.

- Periodically removing satellite waste containers and deliver to less than central accumulation area.

- Annual RCRA Training including Emergency Coordinator (secondary) refresher, Contingency Plan training, RCR hazardous waste training.
