Job summary

Cornerstone Building Brands in Monticello, IA is seeking a reliable painter for 1st shift to apply finishes on metal components. You will set up, operate, inspect, and manage materials while working safely and in line with company policies.

The role demands reading, writing and basic math, good attendance and a team mindset. You will follow manufacturing specifications, maintain spray equipment, and support continuous production with high quality finishes.

Qualifications

• Prior manufacturing and/or painting experience preferred.
• Must read, write and perform basic math as duties require.
• Must possess common sense, positive attitude, and excellent attendance.
• Must be quality- and safety-conscious, a team player.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Extensive standing, bending, lifting, and walking.
• Must use PPE and follow safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Quality Control: Inspect paint finishes to ensure quality standards.
• Equipment Maintenance: Clean and maintain spray painting equipment.
• Safety: Follow safety procedures and wear protective gear.
• Material Management: Mix, match, and manage paints, solvents, and materials.
• Production Processes: Follow manufacturing specifications and processes.
• Problem Solving: Address issues in the painting process.
• Inventory Control: Track daily usage of paints and solvents.
• Paint Application: Apply paint using spray guns, brushes, rollers, or other tools.
• Additional Duties: Complete tasks assigned by department leadership.

Pay: $18-20

Shift: 1st Shift

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Painters are responsible for all aspects of painting metal, including set up, operation, inspection, and material handling activities. Painters are expected to work in a safe, productive and cooperative manner in accordance with Cornerstone Building Brands policies and procedures.

• Quality Control: Inspecting paint finishes to ensure adherence to quality standards.
• Equipment Maintenance: Cleaning and maintaining spray painting equipment.
• Safety: Following safety procedures and wearing appropriate protective gear.
• Material Management: Mixing, matching, and managing inventory of paints, solvents, and other materials.
• Production Processes: Understanding and following manufacturing specifications and processes.
• Problem Solving: Identifying and addressing issues related to the painting process.
• Inventory Control: Tracking daily usage of paints, thinners, and other solvents.
• Paint Application: Applying paint, varnish, or other finishes using spray guns, brushes, rollers, or other tools.
• Additional Duties: Complete all tasks as assigned by department leadership

Qualifications

• Previous manufacturing and/or painting experience preferred
• Must be able to read, write and perform basic math skills as job duties require
• Must possess common sense, positive attitude, and demonstrate excellent attendance
• Must be quality and safety conscious, a team player
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a continual basis
• Must have good verbal and written communication skills and be able to interact with people
• Extensive standing, frequent bending, sitting, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, twisting and walking
• Required personal protective equipment, overhead crane, carts, dollies and some hand tools
• Safe work performance is required from each Associate at all times
