General Summary

Under general supervision, this position is responsible for all aspects of the paint application process, minor repairs, sanding, grinding, and paint preparation. On an as-needed basis, also responsible for duties of Cosmetic Reconditioning Associate II, Flow Inventory Associate II, Senior Reconditioning Associate, and Senior Reconditioning Associate I.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Complete paint application
• Perform minor repairs, including sanding and grinding
• Prepare paint, including color matching and mixing
• Participate in problem-solving and continuous improvement activities
• Execute standardized work as defined
• Ensure all vehicles meet CarMax Paint Standards
• Maintain, repair, and clean equipment as required
• Manage inventory levels of PPE, tools, and chemicals
• Maintain workplace cleanliness and organization following CarMax 5S standards
• Provide outstanding customer service to internal and external customers
• Interior and exterior detailing, interior repair, inventory, and paint preparation
• Complete duties as assigned by managers

Prerequisites and abilities include:

• Complete New Associate Orientation Training - Operations
• Meet performance standards for various roles
• Successfully complete workstation certifications
• Read, interpret, and transcribe data accurately
• Discern appropriate paint colors
• Perform duties in a high-energy, fast-paced environment
• Lift objects up to 50 lbs
• Effective communication skills
• Complete CarMax training in all functional areas

Working Conditions

• Indoor and outdoor environment, possibly noisy or inclement weather
• Adhere to all policies and regulations, including OSHA and EPA standards
• Extended walking or standing
• Variable shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and long days
