Job summary

Sunbelt Solomon is seeking a Paint Technician to prepare and paint transformer units. You will follow work orders, review checklists, and ensure safety compliance using PPE. The role requires painting accuracy and attention to quality throughout the process.

Responsibilities include mixing paints, maintaining viscosity, inspecting for defects, and keeping the workstation safe and organized. Candidates should have high school education and some experience in paint manufacturing, with OSHA10

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • OSHA10 certification preferred.
  • 1 year experience in paint manufacturing preferred.
  • 1 year experience with material handling equipment (forklift, crane, etc.) preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic hand tools preferred.
  • Proven safety record and adherence to safety regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and paint transformer units.
  • Review checklists and follow work orders to specifications.
  • Assess units for defects prior to painting and escalate issues.
  • Mix paint and maintain viscosity per specs.
  • Replace paint in pots/drums as needed.
  • Ensure paint guns are in working order and spray pattern is correct.
  • Apply primer and paint to meet quality expectations.
  • Inspect finished units for quality before final assembly.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and orderly workstation.
  • Follow all PPE and safety protocols; other duties as assigned.

Description

The Paint Technician is responsible for preparing and painting transformer units. Compliance with all safety requirements, product quality standards and company policies are essential functions of this role.

  • Review checklist and follow work order instructions to ensure compliance with specifications
  • Assess units prior to painting and check for issues (defects, leaks, etc.), escape defect issues to lead or supervisor if discovered
  • Mix paint and ensure the viscosity is consistent with specifications
  • As needed replace paint in pots/drums
  • Ensure paint guns are all in working order and spray pattern consistency is correct prior to painting the equipment
  • If needed clean unit off accordingly by air or tack cloth
  • Apply primer and paint as required to comply with quality expectations
  • After primer and paint is complete look over unit to ensure quality expectations are met
  • If unit is dissembled spray unit parts as required
  • Once unit is complete move to final assembly
  • Following all safety protocols which includes wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), respirator, glove, safety glasses, etc.
  • Maintain safe, clean and orderly workstation and area.
  • Other duties assigned as needed.
Requirements
  • High School or GED preferred
  • OSHA10 certified, preferred
  • 1 year experience in paint manufacturing, preferred
  • 1 year experience material handling equipment (forklift, crane, etc.), preferred
  • Knowledge of basic hand tools preferred
  • A proven track record in safety excellence is required.
  • Adheres to all safety and environmental compliance regulations set by the organization. Notify management immediately of any safety concerns, hazardous conditions, or injuries.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders.
  • Meet department and production goals set by supervisor.
  • Ensure product quality meets company and client expectations.
  • Possess a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, cooperative attitude, strong attention to detail and can work in a team environment.
  • Adheres to the company’s employee handbook policies and embodies the organization’s core values.
  • Ability to learn other department job functions and fill in as needed.
  • Complete company compliance and safety training when required.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and work under pressure in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Physical requirements for this role include, but are not limited to the following:
    • Safety protocols require the completion and passing of a respiratory fit test
    • Lift 50lbs floor to waist and waist to shoulder multiple times
    • Standing and walking for long durations
    • Bending, squatting, and kneeling multiple times for long durations
    • The ability to climb up and down a ladder multiple times
    • Balance and stand on a ladder with three points of contact for extended periods of time
    • Comfortable working in the heat and cold due to manufacturing facilities not being climate controlled
