Job summary

Sunbelt Solomon in Spokane Valley, WA is seeking a Paint Technician to review checklists, prep units, and apply primer and paint per specifications. You will assess units for defects, mix paint to required viscosity, and ensure spray equipment operates correctly in a fast-paced environment.

The role emphasizes safety, adherence to procedures, ability to read work orders, and collaboration with teammates to meet production goals.

Responsibilities

  • Review checklist and follow work order instructions to ensure compliance with specifications
  • Assess units prior to painting and check for issues (defects, leaks, etc.), escalate if needed
  • Mix paint and ensure viscosity is consistent with specifications
  • Replace paint in pots/drums as required
  • Ensure paint guns are in working order and spray pattern is correct prior to painting
  • Clean unit off as needed with air or tack cloth
  • Apply primer and paint to meet quality expectations
  • After primer and paint, inspect unit for quality
  • Disassemble unit and paint parts as required
  • Proceed to final assembly when unit is complete
  • Follow all safety protocols including PPE, respirator, gloves, safety glasses
  • Maintain safe, clean and orderly workstation
  • Other duties as needed

Education

High School Diploma or GED
OSHA-10 (preferred)

Tools

Basic hand tools
Forklift/Crane experience

Job description

Brief Description
  • Review checklist and follow work order instructions to ensure compliance with specifications
  • Assess units prior to painting and check for issues (defects, leaks, etc.), escape defect issues to lead or supervisor if discovered
  • Mix paint and ensure the viscosity is consistent with specifications
  • As needed replace paint in pots/drums
  • Ensure paint guns are all in working order and spray pattern consistency is correct prior to painting the equipment
  • If needed clean unit off accordingly by air or tack cloth
  • Apply primer and paint as required to comply with quality expectations
  • After primer and paint is complete look over unit to ensure quality expectations are met
  • If unit is dissembled spray unit parts as required
  • Once unit is complete move to final assembly
  • Following all safety protocols which includes wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), respirator, glove, safety glasses, etc.
  • Maintain safe, clean and orderly workstation and area.
  • Other duties assigned as needed.
Requirements
  • High School or GED preferred
  • OSHA10 certified, preferred
  • 1 year experience in paint manufacturing, preferred
  • 1 year experience material handling equipment (forklift, crane, etc.), preferred
  • Knowledge of basic hand tools preferred
  • A proven track record in safety excellence is required.
  • Adheres to all safety and environmental compliance regulations set by the organization. Notify management immediately of any safety concerns, hazardous conditions, or injuries.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders.
  • Meet department and production goals set by supervisor.
  • Ensure product quality meets company and client expectations.
  • Possess a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, cooperative attitude, strong attention to detail and can work in a team environment.
  • Adheres to the company’s employee handbook policies and embodies the organization’s core values.
  • Ability to learn other department job functions and fill in as needed.
  • Complete company compliance and safety training when required.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and work under pressure in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Physical requirements for this role include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Safety protocols require the completion and passing of a respiratory fit test
  • Lift 50lbs floor to waist and waist to shoulder multiple times
  • Standing and walking for long durations
  • Bending, squatting, and kneeling multiple times for long durations
  • The ability to climb up and down a ladder multiple times
  • Balance and stand on a ladder with three points of contact for extended periods of time
  • Comfortable working in the heat and cold due to manufacturing facilities not being climate controlled
