Job summary

The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets is seeking a permanent Trades Generalist, SG-12 for the Paint Department at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse, NY. You may perform journey-level work in one trade and skilled/semi-skilled tasks in related trades to maintain facilities and equipment.

Starting salary is $50,425 per year, with potential to rise to $61,548 through performance advances.

Qualifications

• Four years of full-time experience as a skilled tradesperson or equivalent.
• Valid New York State driver’s license suitable for state vehicle use.

Responsibilities

• Perform journey-level work in one trade and skilled/semi-skilled work in related trades to repair and maintain facilities and equipment.
• Prepare surfaces and apply coats of paint, varnish, finishes and stains to interior and exterior surfaces and fixtures.
• Support State Fair operations by maintaining buildings, structures, furniture and equipment.
