Trades Generalist – Paint Department

Position Overview: The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets is hiring for a permanent Trades Generalist, SG-12 to work in the Paint Department at the New York State Fairgrounds. As a Trades Generalist, you may perform journey-level work in one trade, and skilled and semic-skilled level work in a combination of other trades to assist in the repair and maintenance of facilities and equipment in support of State Fair operations. This includes performing, preparing surfaces, applying coats of paint, varnish, finishes and stains to interior or exterior surfaces and fixtures of buildings, structures, furniture, equipment and materials.

Location: The Fairgrounds are located at 581 State Fair Boulevard in Syracuse, New York, offering a comfortable work environment with free parking.

Schedule and Compensation: This is a permanent, non‑competitive, CSEA‑represented position offering full‑time hours (40 hrs per week, Monday‑Friday). Starting salary for SG‑12 is $50,425 per year, with potential to rise to $61,548 through performance advances.
