Job summary

JCB North America is seeking a Paint Shop Controls Engineer to develop and optimize automation for paint shop operations. You will ensure PLC/SCADA reliability, drive efficiency, and provide data visibility across manufacturing processes.

The role requires 3+ years in industrial automation, PLC/SCADA experience, and a bachelor’s degree in engineering. Location is San Antonio, TX with full-time, exempt status and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

3+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering or industrial automation.
Experience programming and troubleshooting PLCs in a manufacturing setting.
Strong knowledge of control systems, instrumentation, and networking.
Experience in paint shop, surface finishing, or related processes preferred.
Familiarity with safety and environmental regulations in manufacturing.
Background checks, drug screening, and pre-employment assessments may be required.

Responsibilities

Develop, program, and troubleshoot PLC systems (Rockwell, Beckhoff).
Design and support SCADA systems using Ignition with dashboards and reporting.
Integrate PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and third-party devices via EtherNet/IP and OPC UA.
Configure industrial networks, instrumentation, and drive systems.
Support plant commissioning, startup, and upgrades; analyze production data for improvements.
Develop OEE, downtime, and predictive maintenance dashboards.
Standardize PLC code, naming conventions, and HMI design practices.
Collaborate on MES/ERP data integration and energy efficiency initiatives.
