Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with externship (160 hours) or equivalent experience.
• Alternative: MA program without externship but with 1 year clinical experience.
• Current Medical Assistant certification or equivalent licensure may be required.
• LPN or EMT credentials acceptable per policy.
• EMT/military medical training with clinical experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Escort patient to room and prepare for examination, procedure, and treatment.
• Obtain vital signs and record in the EHR.
• Obtain and record patient history with attention to detail.
• Prepare for, set up and assist with examinations, procedures, and treatments.
• Prepare, administer, and document medications and immunizations per orders; maintain records.
• Document care provided during patient visit in the EHR.
• Recognize and respond to emergencies.
• Monitor and respond to patient requests via calls, My Chart or In Basket; document responses.
• Enter orders in the EHR for provider review and sign-off.
• Discharge patient with after-visit instructions.
