Job summary

Henry Ford Health in Detroit is seeking a Medical Assistant to support providers and nursing leadership in delivering compassionate, high-quality patient care. You will greet patients, obtain histories and vitals, and assist during examinations in our ambulatory setting.

This role offers a $2,000 sign-on bonus and a Monday–Friday schedule with occasional Saturdays. Join a nationally recognized health system dedicated to learning and patient-centered care at 2799 W Grand Blvd, Detroit.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Completion of Medical Assistant program with externship (160 hours) mandatory.
• Certification as Medical Assistant preferred or CMA/RMA/NCMA.
• LPN, or EMT/Paramedic with clinical experience accepted.
• Military medical training with clinical experience accepted.

Responsibilities

• Greet and escort patients to exam rooms and provide a welcoming experience.
• Obtain and record accurate medical histories and vital signs.
• Prepare patients for examinations and procedures per protocols.
• Assist providers during examinations and procedures, ensuring safety and comfort.
• Perform administrative tasks to support the clinical team and patient care.

Qualifications

What You Will Need

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with completion of a formal clinical externship (160-hour minimum), OR
  • Graduate from a Medical Assistant program without completion of a clinical externship but with a minimum one-year experience in clinical medical assisting within the past five years, OR
  • Current Professionally Recognized Medical Assistant Certification with a minimum of one year of experience in clinical medical assisting, OR
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), OR
  • Licensed Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with at least one-year clinical experience in a clinical medical setting within the past five years, OR
  • Military trained medical personnel with at least one-year clinical experience in a clinical medical setting within the past five years.
• Current BLS-C upon hire or successful completion by the end of orientation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills.
• EPIC (Electronic Medical Record) experience.
