Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Graduate of Medical Assistant program with externship (160 hours) or equivalent clinical experience.
• MA program graduate without externship but with 1-year clinical experience in past 5 years.
• Current CMA certification or equivalent with 1 year clinical experience.
• LPN or EMT/Paramedic with related clinical experience accepted.
• Epic EMR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Escort patient to exam room and prepare for examination, procedure, and treatment.
• Obtain vital signs and record in the EHR.
• Obtain and record patient history with clinical reasoning.
• Prepare for and assist with examinations, procedures, and treatments per protocols.
• Administer medications and document in EHR with six rights.
• Document care provided during visit in the EHR.
• Monitor and respond to emergencies.
• Manage patient communications via telephone, In Basket, and MyChart.
• Enter orders in EHR for provider sign-off.
• Discharge patient with post-visit instructions.
