Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and communicate in English
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Successful completion of Medical Terminology course with Grade C or better or pass exam with 80%
• 1 year current patient registration experience
• 1 year secretarial experience in a medical environment
• Keyboarding at 30 wpm
• Knowledge of third party billing
• Previous scheduling experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Coordinates procedure rooms booking schedule with Pain Center physicians and plans cases
• Performs secretarial and related duties to assist staff
• Verifies insurance coverage at scheduling and check-in
• Obtains, tracks and enters prior authorizations and referrals
• Schedules procedures according to payor policies and follows up on notifications
• Registers patients and posts Pain Management charges
• Schedules patients for treatments, labs, imaging, and referrals
• Answers calls, screens messages and processes mail
• Follows hospital policies on QA, safety and infection control
• Participates in PI projects and meetings
• Enters information into EMR accurately
• Processes payments including co-pays and balances
