Job summary

DC Army National Guard seeks a Horizontal Construction Engineer to operate bulldozers, roadgraders, and other heavy equipment to clear sites for construction. You will level earth for runways and roadbeds, clear and excavate areas, spread fill material, and transport gear as part of mission support.

Training is provided with nine weeks of Basic Training and nine weeks Advanced Individual Training; you will earn a regular paycheck, qualify for tuition assistance, and access health care and

Qualifications

• Military enlistment in the Army National Guard.
• Must be at least a junior in high school, or have a high school diploma or a GED.
• Must be between 17 and 35 years old.
• Must pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards.
• Citizenship requirements per NATIONALGUARD.com.

Responsibilities

• Level earth for runways and roadbeds.
• Clear, excavate, and dig areas of construction sites.
• Spread fill material and transport heavy equipment by tractor-trailer.
• Move heavy building materials with cranes and assist in combat engineer missions.
• Analyze grade stakes and place them; cut and spread fill material.
