Foley Equipment invites aspiring diesel technicians to join the Caterpillar ThinkBIG Electric Power Generation internship in Wichita, KS. The two-year program blends hands-on shop work with school, rotating every 7–8 weeks between Foley locations and ThinkBIG classes.

Interns will gain over 2,000 hours of experience, earn a degree, and receive housing accommodations as needed. Participants get a paid internship, access to tools worth about $10,000, and scholarships.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Demonstrated dependability and punctuality for school and internship.
• Curiosity and willingness to learn the Caterpillar curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to Foley's safety-first culture.
• Work with mentors to learn shop procedures, system workings, and safety.
• Disassemble, assemble, and test generator components.
• Use resistive load bank equipment for testing and repairs.
• Perform preventive maintenance on power generation assemblies.
• Diagnose issues and perform minor repairs on gensets.
• Attend school and complete internship assignments; maintain good standing.
• Occasionally travel for training or to assist at other Foley locations.
