Job summary

Excellus BCBS is offering a 10-week paid Summer College Internship Program for undergraduates and graduates. Interns work on meaningful projects, are mentored by their managers, and participate in development workshops to bridge school and corporate life.

Internships cover various tracks including Business Administration, IT, Analytics, Finance, Marketing, Project Management, and more. Housing is not provided, but interns gain hands-on experience and networking opportunities.

Qualifications

• Majors include Mathematics, Economics, Actuarial, or Statistics.
• High School diploma with active college enrollment.
• Must be in good academic standing.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work well in a team.
• Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving and prioritization skills.
• Proactive approach to work and flexibility.
• Commitment to continuous improvement of skills.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience using a desktop computer in a professional environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development of rate or Medicare bid filings through analysis of benefit designs and claims data.
• Assist in preparation of accurate and timely trend analyses.
• Assist in development of preliminary reserve and future claim liabilities for internal and regulatory reporting; support regulatory responses.
• Assist in preparation of risk adjustment analyses.
• Support risk sharing analyses, capitation development, and settlements.
• Assist in analyses for financial planning, forecasting and projections.
• Prepare and maintain documentation of work.
• Complete and support ad-hoc analyses and projects as needed.
• Work with a mentor on key strategic projects.
• Deliver presentations at internship completion.
