Job summary

The HCA Nurse Residency Program at Trident Medical Center provides hands-on experience to help new graduates become registered nurses. This year-long program supports your transition from student nurse to licensed professional through guided learning, mentoring from nurse educators, and collaboration with a supportive care team.

Residents gain advanced clinical training, monthly education sessions, preceptorship with an on-site preceptor, and hands-on simulations that reinforce skills.

Qualifications

• BLS obtained within 30 days of employment.
• ACLS obtained within 1 year of employment.
• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
• Registered Nurse License or Graduate Nurse in South Carolina.
• No previous experience needed.
• Some travel may be needed for training.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition during admission and during each shift, identifying and reporting any changes.
• Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
• Perform the administration of prescribed medications. Monitor patient for therapeutic response. Notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response to medication.
• Respond promptly to patient requests and strive to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively.
• Teach patients, families and caregivers about patient medical condition, status, treatment plan, medications and follow-up measures.
