Job summary

American Red Cross in Michigan is hiring phlebotomists to support mobile blood drives and local collection sites. Paid phlebotomy training is provided, and you will work with a team to create a welcoming environment for donors while following safety procedures to collect lifesaving blood donations.

Typical duties include assisting with transport and setup of equipment, engaging donors, and maintaining accurate procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills are required.
• A current, valid driver's license with a good driving record is required.
• Physical requirements may include the ability to lift, push or pull heavy weights and long hours; a minimum height of 60 inches may be required to operate vehicles.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office is expected.

Responsibilities

• Take the time to personally connect with donors – listen to their stories and explain the impact of their donation.
• Collaborate with teammates to create a welcoming environment so donors feel comfortable returning.
• Be detail oriented to ensure blood collected meets goals, regulatory requirements, and can be transfused safely.
• May drive Red Cross vehicles and assist with setup/teardown at donation sites; minimum height may be required.
