Qualifications

• Selected applicants must enroll in a Minnesota college or university internship course and have paid any associated tuition costs or fees before beginning the internship.
• Minnesota Nurse Practice Act requires nursing student interns to be enrolled in a nursing program whenever performing nursing functions.
• RN-mentored clinical experience with offers contingent on enrollment in a Minnesota school’s internship course and tuition payments.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care by reviewing physician prescriptions and coordinating with the health care team.
• Develops nursing care plans by obtaining histories and documenting patient status.
• Teaches patients and families about condition, medications, and self-care.
• Evaluates patient care by monitoring health outcomes and adjusting plans as needed.
• Maintains safe care environment following infection-control policies and regulations.
• Documents patient care in charts and department records.
• Keeps care equipment functioning and stocks supplies.
• Enhances nursing capabilities during training under leadership.
