Job summary

Avera Health in Minnesota offers a paid Nursing Internship at Avera Marshall Hospital. The program rotates through Med/Surg, Long Term Care, Behavioral Health, Emergency Department and Labor/Delivery from May 2027 to August 2027, with 72 hours every two weeks across rotating day/evening/night shifts.

Applicants must be enrolled in a nursing program and agree to enroll in a Minnesota school’s internship course, with RN mentorship provided.

Qualifications

• Some College Currently enrolled and have completed all but the final one or two semesters of CCNE or NLN accredited Registered Nursing program.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Willingness to enroll in a Minnesota nursing internship course and pay associated tuition costs or fees.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care by reviewing physician prescriptions; coordinating with the health care team; providing physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends.
• Develops nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories; examining patients; documenting patient physical condition, psychological status, and influencing social factors; conferring with family and friends.
• Teaches healthcare requirements by establishing patient care goals; instructing patient, family, and friends to understand condition, medications, and self-care skills.
• Evaluates patient care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against patient care standards; reviewing patient records; modifying nursing care plan.
• Maintains safe, secure, and healthy patient care environment by infection-control policies and protocols; medication administration and storage; legal regulations.
• Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
• Keeps patient care supplies ready by checking stock; anticipating needs; placing orders; stocking items.
