Job summary

UNC Health Care in Chapel Hill is seeking candidates for the Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program (MAAP). Qualifications

• Access to computer and internet for online coursework.
• Commitment to completing the 12-month program and obtaining certification.
• Intent to work at UNC Health as a Certified Medical Assistant for at least two years after completion.

Responsibilities

• Performs rooming and intake with vital signs and data collection.
• Assists providers during treatments and procedures; collects specimens and performs phlebotomy.
• Administers medications under supervision.
• Performs tests such as EKG and eye exams; reviews health screenings needs.
• Keeps exam rooms stocked, cleaned and ready for use during visits.
• Provides patient with after-visit and self-care instructions and materials.
• Assists with patient registration, check-in/out, and scheduling of tests.
