Job summary

Alluvion Health in Choteau, Montana seeks an Apprentice Medical Assistant to join our team and grow toward becoming a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) through a structured, paid apprenticeship. You will start in the Patient Access Specialist role, building patient communication, scheduling, and billing skills while earning education time.

Ten hours of education per week are built into a 40-hour workweek, with 30 hours of hands-on training and patient care as you progress to the

• High school diploma, GED, or HiSET.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Basic computer skills and willingness to learn electronic medical record systems.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients and provide excellent customer service.
• Answer incoming calls and respond to patient messages.
• Collect and verify demographic, insurance, and financial information.
• Use the electronic medical record system.
• Help determine eligibility for the Sliding Fee Discount Program.
• Collect co-pays, nominal fees, and payments for services.
• Connect patients with Care Coordinators and other resources when needed.
• Maintain accurate, confidential patient information in accordance with HIPAA.
• Support general clinic operations and administrative responsibilities.
• Provide direct patient care in a clinical setting.
• Prepare patients for visits and assist the clinical care team.
• Obtain height, weight, vital signs, and other patient information.
• Document clinical information in the electronic medical record.
• Follow established Medical Assistant protocols and procedures.
• Prepare, stock, and clean exam rooms.
• Assist with clinic supplies and patient education materials.
• Support patients and families in locating community resources.
• Participate in outreach and preventive health initiatives.
• Work collaboratively with providers, clinical staff, patients, and community partners.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
