Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Maintenance Technician Intern at our Huntsville, AL facility. This paid hourly internship will develop your skills in troubleshooting and maintaining manufacturing equipment while following safe work practices.

You will contribute to increased uptime and reliability to help meet production and quality goals. You will join our Maintenance team to learn industrial maintenance, read diagrams, and work on motors, pneumatics, hydraulics, conveyors, and production line

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.
Enrolled in a two-year industrial maintenance degree.
Willing and able to work any shift, holiday, weekends and overtime as needed.
Experience reading technical drawings and schematics.
Experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical/electronic equipment and components e.g.: motors, motor controllers and drives.

Responsibilities

Work with the Maintenance Technicians to learn and further develop knowledge and skills in the field of Industrial Maintenance.
Participate in the troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and installing equipment in compliance with all plant policies and procedures.
Work with machinery and mechanical equipment including motors, pneumatic & hydraulic components, conveyor systems, and production line equipment.
Read diagrams, sketches, operation manuals and manufacturer’s specifications for installations.
Use hand tools, power tools and precision-measuring devices and testing instruments.
Adhere to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures.
