Job summary

Georgia-Pacific is looking a Maintenance Technician Intern at our Huntsville, AL facility. This is a unique opportunity for a paid hourly internship that will help to develop skills and knowledge around troubleshooting and performing maintenance on manufacturing equipment while understanding and adhering to safe work practices. This position creates value for the facility by performing preventative and corrective maintenance leading to increased uptime and reliability, thus helping the facility to meet their production and quality goals.

What You Will Do
  • Work with the Maintenance Technicians to learn and further develop knowledge and skills in the field of Industrial Maintenance.
  • Participate in the troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and installing equipment in compliance with all plant policies and procedures.
  • Work with machinery and mechanical equipment including motors, pneumatic & hydraulic components, conveyor systems, and production line equipment.
  • Read diagrams, sketches, operation manuals and manufacturer's specifications for installations.
  • Use hand tools, power tools and precision-measuring devices and testing instruments.
  • Adhere to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be enrolled in and pursuing a two (2) year industrial maintenance degree.
  • Willing and able to work any shift, holiday, weekends and overtime as needed.
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Experience reading technical drawings and schematics.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical/electronic equipment and components e.g.: motors, motor controllers and drives.
