Job summary

Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our Lumber facility in Talladega, AL. This role involves hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and ensuring safety compliance in a large production environment.

You will perform preventive maintenance, install and repair drives, pumps, belts, and piping while coordinating with operations. A strong background in industrial equipment and blueprints is required, with 12-hour shifts and weekend variations common.

Qualifications

Experience performing installation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial equipment.
Experience in hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical systems.
Able to read mechanical and electrical blueprints and schematics.

Responsibilities

Adhering to all plant safety and environmental guidelines and actively participating in the safety program.
Support operations efficiency through troubleshooting and maintaining manufacturing equipment and processes.
Perform periodic proactive asset strategies, such as maintenance routes and preventative maintenance to improve reliability and uptime.
Install and repair mechanical drives, chains, sprockets, gearboxes, belts, and couplings.
Maintain and troubleshoot pneumatic systems, control devices, hydraulic equipment, circuits, and components.
Work with operations and maintenance teams to identify and prioritize maintenance needs.
Use pipefitting skills to weld, fit, and install piping throughout the facility.
Assist operators with machine start-up, shutdown or cleanup.
Research parts in equipment manuals and submit work orders in CMMS.
Communicate daily work performed and machine conditions via documentation.
