Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking an Arborist Trainee for an internship in Naperville, IL. This on-site program offers hands-on training alongside experienced crews, with safety as a priority and opportunities to advance within a nationwide company.

Starting pay is $20–$23 per hour, with time off and holidays, equipment provided, and access to career development resources. You’ll learn tree identification, pruning, removal, and the basics of arboriculture in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights (preferred).
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide licenses and certificates, if required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Learn to climb trees and work as part of a tree crew.
• Progressively learn pruning and removal techniques for client sites.
• Learn to install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
• Assist in removal of hazardous trees and safe operation of tools and equipment.
