The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking an Arborist Trainee for an internship-based position in Naperville, IL. You will learn climbing, pruning, and tree-care techniques as part of a crew, receiving paid training and growth opportunities in a safety-focused environment.

Starting pay ranges from $20 to $23 per hour, with benefits including PTO, holidays, and health plans. The office is outdoors, offering daily new views and hands-on experience in tree care.

Qualifications

• Outdoor enthusiast with a passion for trees and outdoor work.
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, or Landscaping is preferred.
• Must complete Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program on hire.
• First Aid/CPR and defensive driving training on hire.
• Pesticide licenses/certifications are preferred where required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Learn to climb trees and get paid to do so.
• Operate as a member of a tree crew while progressively learning new skills.
• Learn to prune, remove deadwood, and trim trees safely and skillfully for clients.
• Learn to install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
• Assist in removal of hazardous trees.
• Maintain, prepare, and operate tools and equipment (chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts).
