Casella Waste Systems, Inc. is seeking a CDL Driver Apprentice to begin a structured training program toward obtaining a CDL. Training costs are covered, with onboarding at our Rutland, VT home office. The role emphasizes safety, customer service, and progression through a defined Career Pathways program.

Hiring range is $21.00–$22.00 per hour, with future merit increases and safety incentives as you advance from Apprentice to Class I/II/III Driver stages.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must be at least 18 and eligible to work in the United States.
• Able to lift objects >50 lbs.
• Valid state CDL Class B permit with air brake endorsement or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Strong verbal and written communication; problem-solving; teamwork.

Responsabilités

• Perform pre/post trip inspections per safety standards and regulations.
• Operate roll-off, rear/front/side load trucks safely on various sites.
• Provide courteous, timely service with a positive attitude.
• Complete route paperwork accurately and end-of-day reports.
• Handle route sheets and bins servicing; maintain site cleanliness.
• Attend scheduled training and meetings; support dispatch and operations.
• Report incidents or unsafe conditions to Dispatch immediately.
• Demonstrate awareness of surroundings and teamwork on vehicle.
• Assist with backing maneuvers and learn company processes.
• Engage in training opportunities to advance within the career paths.
