Job summary

Casella Waste Systems, Inc. is seeking a CDL Driver Apprentice who will obtain a Commercial Driver's License and complete federally required CDL instruction. Training costs are covered, with onboarding at our Rutland, VT home office.

The role starts as an apprentice and progresses through a structured Career Pathways program, with advancement opportunities and safety bonuses. Hiring range is $23.00-$25.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma or GED.
• Must be at least 18 years old and legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Must obtain CDL Class B permit with air brake endorsement within 6 months.
• Must pass pre-employment drug test.

Responsibilities

• Performs pre/post trip inspections and ensures safety equipment is operational.
• Operates and assists with various front/rear load trucks following safety standards.
• Provides courteous service and timely customer interactions.
• Completes route documentation and paperwork accurately.
• Attends training programs and notifies Dispatch of issues or interruptions.
• Assists driver with backing maneuvers and participates in career development.
