UNC Health is offering a 10-week, paid Student Nurse Externship Program in Raleigh, NC. Rising senior ADN/BSN students gain hands-on clinical experience, strengthen nursing skills, and observe hospital-based care while preparing to become professional nurses.

Participants work under RN supervision on the 8HV Cardiac Procedural Medicine Intermediate Care Unit, with mentorship and structured learning experiences designed to bridge education and practice.

Qualificações

• Fluent in verbal and written English.
• Ability to organize and prioritize patient care tasks.
• Basic computer skills for charting and documentation.
• Ability to lift and move patients and equipment (40–50 lbs).
• CPR knowledge or certification is preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Observes, collects, and documents patient information and reports significant changes to RN or provider.
• Assists patients and families during admission, orientation, and discharge.
• Performs patient care activities as outlined in the plan of care (vital signs, measurements, specimen collection, wound care, glucose checks, etc.).
• Provides direct personal care for activities of daily living.
• Performs indirect care tasks (cleaning, linens, stocking, transporting, clerical duties).
• Reinforces patient teaching and ensures understanding of instructions.
• Assists providers with routine examinations and procedures as needed.
• Supports learning and safety in psychiatric settings as required.
